Pmail wants a User Name when I modify pmail.cfg

I have successfully migrated Pmail 4.63 from my XP computer (SATCHEL) to my Win7 Computer (SNOWY).

C:\Pmail\Programs\winpm-32.exe launched from Windows Explorer works fine, with <default> as ID.

Short cut C:\Pmail\Programs\winpm-32.exe -A -ID imadunce@myisp works fine, with imadunce@myisp as ID.  I can send and receive mail.  So far, so good.

I want to run Pmail from either SNOWY or another networked computer, SATCHEL.  (The 2 computers are in the same room, so if I'm on SATCHEL and my wife is on SNOWY, I'll just ask her to close Pmail on SNOWY.)

So, per thread 28494 (Thomas Stephenson), I use C:\PMAIL\Programs\pconfig in DOSBox to change the HOME and NEW mailboxes to \\SNOWY\OS\PMAIL\MAIL\~8.  I use a hex editor to confirm that C:\Pmail\Programs\pmail.cfg. has changed the mailboxes and increased slightly in length.

After only that change, when I launch Pmail from either Windows Explorer or my shortcut, the splash screen appears, with a box on top asking for my Pegasus Mail username.  It won't accept imadunce@myisp, or A, or Admin, or random cusswords.

Deleting pmail.cfg and relaunching, choosing Only User and the default C:\PMAIL\MAIL makes it work again on SNOWY, but when I try to run it from SATCHEL, I get a couple seconds (SATCHEL is slow) of Pegasus splash screen, and then nothing.

Any ideas what's going on?
