I am currently running 4.60 under XP. I have mails from the last 20 years which I have unwittingly shifted to numerous folders (one for each year) and thus created a number of them which are beyond the 2GB limit where the index no longer works. I only realized when it was too late. I have tried the usual procedures described here by copying a number of files from a big folder to a new folder. However, in the new folder the indexing is apparently wrong and when I reindex a number of mails seem to vanish. The old one, however, cannot be compacted after deletion of the files because there is an indexing error. WHen I reindex the old mails reappear and I am again above 2 GB (and so on).
So here is my question. As a last resort I downloaded notsplit. I can start the program but it does not do anything as if it does not find the folder. There is not even an error message. It just says processed 0. I tried to enter just the filename or the name with the full path. I also tried to put notsplit into the directory where the folders are located. It simply does not work. I also tried with large and small folders, no difference. How do I get notsplit to work??? I should mention that my folders are not in the default directory. Does notsplit look in a special place???
