New Mail Folder Sort-by-date Gives Discontinuous Results
Hi. I've had this problem in my NewMail folder for a couple of years, and although I have upgraded to V4.7, I still have it.
Here's the problem:
My NewMail folder has about five hundred messages in it, dating from
2008 to current. Clicking Date/Time to (re)sort them, results in one group of
a hundred or so messages properly sorted by dates from 2014 to 2009. However,
that's followed by another group of messages, also properly sorted by date,
ranging from 2014 to 2008. The two groups won't sort together.
The reason that this is a huge inconvenience/problem for me, is that when
new messages are received, they initially come in (properly) at the top of my
inbox. However, if I close and restart Pegasus, or if I re-sort the newmail
folder by date, some of the new, current messages end up in the bottom section
of the inbox/newmail folder, and thus get easily missed or forgotten. I can't
figure out the characteristics of the new messages that result in them being
missorted -- neither can I see any visible faults in the older messages that
are in the bottom group in the folder. The dates displayed in the NewMail folder are correct.
I suspect the corruption took place a couple years ago when I moved a bunch of messages from the NewMail folder to another folder, then later moved some of them back.
[I had been away for a month and had more than 1200 messages pile up at my ISP's, but as you know, Pegasus has a limitation of around 750 messages in the newmail folder. So to see my recent messages first, I shifted most of the older ones to another folder to make room to download the newer ones.]
After noticing the problem then, I tried to correct it by moving ALL the newmail messages to another folder, then moving them back to the newmail folder. This didn't help.
I have tried deleting & re-building the newmail .pmi index but this didn't help either.Any ideas?[Btw, I run on Windows XP.]
Thanks,
…mathew
