Add new folder/mailbox locks PM . .

$

Just started yesterday, 6/3/2013, when moving mail or adding a new folder/mailbox my mouse moves off screen to the right AND nothing happens, no dialog for naming the new mailbox with the mail to be moved selected.  When moving mouse to PM to do anything computer beeps and NOTHING.  At first I restarted my computer and reopen PM was able to check mail and do other operations as though nothing was wrong, WRONG!!  Attempting to do the same move of mail and creation of a new mailbox same results.  Could not even get TASK MANAGER to come up, at first, later on after clicking the 'three finger salute' several times, about 3 or 4 it finally came up and was able to 'close process' for PM.  That is how I unlock PM now, yet no matter which I use to attempt to create a new MailBox it locks down PM.  There is room on the Micro mini chip where PM is located.  Have downloaded new mail, read and open new mail, even sent as well as forwarded mail.  The only problem is creating a new mailbox.  It has worked before with no difficulty.

Ask any question that you may need for more info from me, or any suggestions would be great . .

I have one last question if I may?  Where might I find the version #s for IERenderer, LibTidy.dll, Bearhtml within my install of PM so the versions can be verified.  Have looked but cannot find any info within PM.

Pegasus Mail crashes after last Windows 7 Update (to IE 10)

Hi everybody,

Wonderful forum here with lots of good hints and information, thank you for creating this place! :-)

This is to ask if anybody else has problems with Pegasus Mail (I use the latest version 4.63, build 325) after Windows 7 updated to Internet Explorer 10. The update was last night, and today Pegasus Mail wouldn't start anymore. I tried reinstalling it, updated IERenderer and BearHtml, no effect. Pegasus Mail opened, so that I could see the folders and the messages inside, but then Windows immediately returned the wonderfully helpful message "Pegasus Mail doesn't work anymore" (roughly translated from German). Finally I removed the last Windows Update, and now Pegasus Mail works again. :-)

Has anybody else experienced the same? If not, it might be a problem with the configuration on my computer. If yes, there's probably something incompatible...

I hope my system won't update itself again now (will turn off automatic updates until this is solved) - I wouldn't know what to do without Pegasus Mail. It's the first and only E-Mail-program I've ever user on my private computers since 1998, and it has grown on me so much that I wouldn't uninstall it for whatever reason. :-)

Cheers

Zata

Mail filtering sequence

I have several filter rules set up to distribute new mail into various folders. I also have multiple POP3 accounts that feed this PM, but the rules are applied in an "all_mail" identity which handles all incoming mail. The rules are set up in order so there are many "if FROM abc@mailaddress.com, move to folder ...". They are followed by multiple "if TO abc@mailaddress.com, move to folder ...". One of the "from" rules is defined as a "member of list" search but it doesn't seem to work. I received several e-mails from members of that list but the e-mails end up in a folder I set up as a catch-all "inbox" if the TO address contains my primary e-mail address. In other words, the filtering seems to ignore the "member of list" filter and successfully applies the catch-all "TO" filter. Is there a specific order in which the filter rules are applied that would cause it to ignore the member search? I'm a relative newbie to PM, but I understand the filtering concept. I know this is a very generic example, but does anyone have any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?

Add'l info:

I've tried setting up distribution list filtering for both open and close of the new mail folder.I moved a mail from the inbox to new mail and unread it. Mail was definitely from a member of the scan list. After the new mail folder was opened, the mail got moved to Inbox folder. If scan list had been invoked, mail would have been moved to a different folder.

System message says:

Mon, 18:51:40    Newmail rule processing: No messages triggered any rules.
Mon, 18:52:23    Newmail rule processing:
    1 message moved to 'Inbox'

Can someone help?

Pegasus shown to have Packed Image in Process Explorer

I'm a little paranoid right now because I have just, after five days and nights, mainly in "safe-mode", managed to disinfect my Win 7 computer of a trojan or two after a descending crisis into "blue screen".

One of the useful tools I used is Process Explorer, which apart from showing hooks, shows open applications in different colours and highlighted according to differing criteria.

One form of colour highlighting is:

Highlight Packed Images: malware, including viruses, spyware, and adware is often stored in a packed encrypted form on disk in order to attempt to hide the code it contains from antispyware and antivirus.

In the past five days I have undeleted all such suspect applications and since sucessfully downloaded and reinstalled them with no problem.

However, Pegasus still gives me this signal that it may have picked up an infection.  So I "kill" it immediately in Process Explorer.

Which is a different sort of problem because it is my principal emailer and I'm rather lost without it.

I have uninstalled and fresh installed Pegasus several times on a multiply-scanned and theoretically clean system.  Also separated the "MAIL" folder on an unattached disk.

Is it possible that Pegasus has "packed images" (encrypted data) in normal mode?  Could someone verify this for me?

If so, I''ll be content to reinstall it.

Many thanks for any assistance.

Nadia

Migration and upgrading problems

Migration and upgrading problems

At the moment I run Pegasus mail v4.63 with Win7 Ultimate in a new Pc, having migrated and upgraded from Win XP AND v4.41.

From the open Folder manager window I cannot select any folder just by keying (part of) its name -- or so I thought. More beneath. There is no (universal) choice but scrolling to the folder I want.

Yet in view of the installation experience I am rather astonished that everything else seems to work to satisfaction.

Firstly while the XP was still working I should have upgraded the v4.41.

Instead in Win7 the oldest version officially available is v4.52 and I installed it (the second mistake: ) on top of the C:\Pmail\Mail\Admin into which v4.41 folder C:\Pmail\Mail\ had been copied. Reminded that the on-top method should not have been attempted I nevertheless went on to

-- save the newly completed C:\Pmail\Mail\Admin, followed by
    -- uninstall and
    -- a clean install of v4.63 and,
-- using this recent save (: the third mistake), copy back to C:\Pmail\Mail\Admin some selected files (http://www.vandenbogaerde.net/han_lkfr.htm):

*.CNM        - new mail
*.PMM, *.PMI    - saved mail folders
*.PMR, *.PM!    - address books
*.PMS        - signatures (title bar texts not recovered, formatted versions but no essential data missing)
*.PML        - distribution lists
*.PMN        - annotations
*.PMP        - notepad
*.PMO        - saved messages
WINPMFUA.PM     - recent addresses

Two files not copied were MEMORY.PM and (probably) PMFOLDER.PM.

Yet another irregularity was to merge the Pegasus-created 'Main folder' and 'Junk or suspicious mail' data into the file listing all the other *.PMM, *.PMI data. I am not sure but would the files listing the v4.63-created and the saved *.PMM, *.PMI data have had the same name? Now  'Main folder' and 'Junk or suspicious mail' appear in the Folder manager window among all the rest in their alphabetical position which is rather too inconspicuous. Interestingly these too folders *can* be selected via the keyboard. So there are two issues, keyboard operability and the Folder manager window setup.

I suppose the installing of v4.63 from the scratch and adding a selection of the original v4.41 files is a possibility (losing some recent posts from the system). But how to avoid/resolve the Folder manages issues? Even better, can these issues be handled without a new installation?

New Mail folder trashed

Pmail 4.63 on W7.

I had the "mailbox locked" followed by Pmail hanging syndrome.  I deleted the two most recent days' of .CNM files.  I did not delete any other file, except the lock file.

Pmail then started up, but the New Mail folder only has the most recent message in it.  There were about 100, when last open, all having been read, except the

two most recent, both of which were small, text  only files.  Only the most recent one survived.

Are the messages totally lost, or are they possibly in a differently-named folder now?  Where should I look?

Thanks for any help.

Have been unable to receive emails for 4 days and am panicking

I use Pmail version 4.51 since upgrade in 2009. I have over 13 years of invaluable emails archived. But 4 days ago I get repeated messages:

Connection established to 212.159.9.81

>> 0018 +OK Hello there.

<< 0016 USER europtics

>> 0024 +OK Password required.

<< 0015 PASS XXXXXXXX

>> 0020 -ERR Login failed.

I don't know where to check or insert a password. The only relevant action I have performed recently is to have changed the password to my Internet Service Provider with subsequent change with matching password in my Modem.

This situation is very worrying. Should I re-install or upgrade to the latest version and hope I can answer the new installation questions?

Hi.

I have recently set up Pegasus Mail. It was working fine but now I am having some trouble with IMAP. If I try to click on a mail I get the following message "The IMAP server that manages this mailbox or folder has reported an error during the operation you have attempted to perform." Also I no longer appear to be receiving all mails. My web server is called blacknight and they use qmail. It appears all the settings are correct I have changed them several times. Any help would be much appreciated??

socket read error 2746 after rootkit virus

I recently removed a rootkit virus from my machine (XP sp3) with Comodo which required replacing NetBT.sys. Everything seems to be working well now except sending mail with Pegasus. Anything more than a couple of words returns a socket read error 2746. I am not having any other internet errors or problems.

I have searched this error and have tried adjusting my MTU and Rwin settings and also tried the command line option -z 5120 with no change. If I log as the same pmail user on another machine on my network (mailboxes are on server) it sends without a problem. It's just from this computer. Any ideas?

Below is the error in the Pmail pop up window.

.I can not send mail, only receive. Just got a new laptop and am using W7 for the first time. I had to abandon Pegasus on my old lap top because it simply could not connect to the server (Verizon Fios). I am using the specified port but no luck. Any ideas? Will abandon Pegasus if I cant resolve this in the next few days.

I have had a problem with Pegasus a long time, my workaround has been taking a screenshot then printing that.

Many emails with pictures (like order receipts with barcodes) are viewable fine, but when printed the graphics don't show up at all.

keeping messages in new mail folder that are not apam

I am an ebay seller on occasion and so I get a lot of messages from ebay.  I am having a problem telling my program that I want ebay messages in my new mail folder.  I have set messages from ebay to filter to my new mail folder and I have told spam halter that that is where I want those messages.  Instead, they keep ending up in a folder that Pmail sets up called "junk and suspicious mail".  How can I convince PMail that I want those messages in my new mail folder instead?

Thanks, Bobbie

Wacom tablet

Here's an interesting phenomenon I just discovered using my Wacom pen tablet with the mouse instead of the pen.

I was annoyed that the scroll wheel would scroll several lines with each 'notch' so I set it in the tablet preferences to scroll just two lines. As a result it worked fine in all applications other than PMail which seems to  understand anything less than three lines per notch means no scrolling at all! Not a problem or issue to be adressed, just an oddity in case anyone's using one of these devices and has trouble using the wheel.

Unable to see new mail in "LIST" view but visible in "PREVIEW" mode.

My wife has been using the 4.63 version of Pmail for quite some time without any problems. Suddenly she has found that she can only see her newmail if she looks at it in Preview mode but not in List mode. Pther folders are correctly visible.

I would like to say that we have done nothing at all to change the system however there is a chance that a small "virus" in the form of our youngest grandson (aged 5) may have "tweaked" it in some way!

I have tried moving all the mail from the NewMail folder and I have tried re-installing the program without any affect.

Can you suggest what I should do next please?

Filtering for a domain extension?

I am unable to filter out a particular domain extension.  By this I mean that I want to filter out all incoming mail from a particular country or extension type.  For example, let's say that I want to remove every email with a ".biz" extension.  If I create a filtering rule to Delete all .biz emails by typing in ".biz" in the "Contains this text:" box, those emails are NOT deleted!  Is there some syntax that I don't know about?

Pegasus Mail and Verizon FIOS

$

Something odd has happened... Beginning last night, I'm unable to send or receive email through Verizon FIOS with Pegasus 4.63 on any of the computers on my home network. When I try, I immediately get the very uninformative error message:

 http://rednoise.vacau.com/temp/Pmail_error1.png

"SMTP Network of Protocol Error sending mail. An error has occurred during and SMTP mail transaction. The details of the error are show below, and if one is available, a trace showing the communication between Pegasus Mail and the server appears at the foot of the window.

"Description of error: A network error occurred during the connect to the host.

"Trace showing end of transaction: <<No trace information is available>>"

I'm still able to send/receive mail to other hosts (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) with Pegasus. I'm still able to send/receive mail to Verizon with Outlook 2003, Outlook Express, and Thunderbird.

My POP3 settings are Port 995 via direct SSL connect. SMTP are Port 465/SSL. These are the same settings I use with Outlook/OE/Tbird.

I've tried disabling Windows XP's firewall, disabling my AV (Avira Free), enabling the "Disable certificate validation" option in Pegasus.
I turned on the "Keep a log of messages sent (in SYSLOG.PM file)" option, but no such log is created. I've rebooted the computer.

I made no changes in Pmail that I'm aware of. I made no changes in Pmail that I'm aware of. It seems to me that Verizon made some change on their end last night that doesn't agree with Pegasus, but which the other programs find acceptable. I have a suspicion that it has something to do with SSL, but without a meaningful error message, I'm at a loss as to how to troubleshoot this. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Draft manager

Hello,

I use Pegasus Mail 4.63 in french (portable on my USB key) and Windows 8

In my Draft manager, I have a tab/column "date", but within is not the date but the size of my recorded message (0.2k i.e.). Maybe a translation error ?

How can I have the date information, the size is less important for me.

 Thanks

Adding a hyperlink to a file on a server in an email template.

I have been looking at an email template we use to notify users of Engineering Change requests.  We Insert a link to the actual ECR document on one of our servers for our review team to use to access the ECR and if they wish add their comments before it gets approved.  I am told the the link to the local file used to work and it is in the form

\\\\wwl-production2\\ECR\\Review ECRs\\W~vv7~.doc   Where ~w7~ adds a string entered when the template is invoked.

I think what some of our staff believe is that the link used to automatically open the file.

I looked at topic http://community.pmail.com/forums/thread/37129.aspx and wondered if adding File: might help but it does not appear to. If I compile a message and used the hyperlink tool, a file:// hyperlink makes the browser try to open the file which is not quite what we are after anyway.

Has anyone else inserted hyperlinks, of any kind, in an email template and if so how did you do it please.  Better yet does anyone else know how to link to a local document file in either a mail template or even an ordinary email such that a users local office app will open the file.  We do not want to send the actual file in the email as our procedure calls for there to be just the one original document that contains all user's comments.

How to archive and back up Pegasus mail messages

$

Hello. I was encouraged to use Pegasus Mail by a techie person I knew years

ago, who is no longer alive. I don't know anyone who uses Pegasus. I've put my

whole work/personal life files into Pegasus folders.

My computer is aging and I've been backing up what seems to be the relevant

files on an external hard drive, but there are different MAIL and PMAIL folders on

my major drive, so I don't really know  what the proper subfolders are called and if I'm

backing up the right files.

In addition, I have another Pegasus shortcut on my computer ELwinpm-32 that duplicates

the files on my winpm-32 but is in a different location on the drive.

I've been reluctant to upgrade Pegasus because of the confusion and fears I might lose

my files.

Also, if I install Pegasus mail on a new computer, how would I, or can I, have my

current folders and content transferred there to show up?

This is a mess, and I'm hoping some among you can clear up my understanding of how

the program files are arranged to insure I maintain, or at least transfer elsewhere,

what I need to have.

 Thanks!
