Trojan alert on Pegasus 4.7 download
I’ve been using Pegasus for ~15 years and made only the occasional upgrade over that time. I thought I’d upgrade to 4.7 over the weekend but unfortunately the download was intercepted at my outer defences with a suspect Trojan, Kryptik.PFP. I note a number of posts in 2012 re. Cryptic which I suspect could be the same or a variant. I am afraid I am disinclined to disable the defences. Has anyone else encountered this issue, has the s3 download become compromised?
Which eddress offered first when starting new email?
I have... of course!... an addressbook in my Pegasus setup.
Let's say, for arguement, I have entries (in the "Name" field) for....
ABC Taxis
Brown- Fred- home
Brown- Fred- work
Chester Library
Now... with such an address book, if I type "Brow", Pegasus helpfully offers one of the Browns' entries. If it is the RIGHT one, I can just tab to the "Subject" field, and get on with doing the email. If Pegasus offered Brown- Fred- home, but I wanted Brown- Fred- work, I just keep typing the contact name I want, and when I get to "Brown- Fred- w", Pegasus switches from the Brown it was proposing before to the other one. NOW I can just press tab, and proceed as before.
So far so good. All that works nicely for me.
But.
Let's say that at the moment, Pegasus proposes "Brown- Fred- home" when I type "Brow".... but I want the other one to be the first "Brow..." offered:
I've tried all sorts of things... for hours... several times over the years... none of the "usual tricks" work. (For instance, putting an extra hyphen in one of the names sometimes does the trick (if you add it to the right one!) in some apps, but not(?) Pegasus.)
Can anyone spot what I'm missing under Pegasus? How to make something the first entry offered? I even try re-sorting the display AND re-indexing the book after making edits to the "Name" fields (I'm using Pegasus 4.63 in a Windows 7 machine. And 4.52 in an XP machine. (Only still on 6.52 there because that installation is older, and I abhor upgrading WORKING systems! (But yes, I do apply OS and browser upgrades!!)).

(While writing: Newbie beware: Don't us a comma in a "Name" field for an addressbook record. I.e. Don't put "Brown, Fred- home" in an addressbook)
POP3 & IMAP Comcast requirements
"Using POP to retrieve e-mail will cause a less-than-optimal experience, especially when you use multiple devices to check your email. We strongly recommend IMAP over POP since this will keep your emails in sync across different devices. If you do need to use POP due to any reason, you can use the following connection information: To prevent spam and to ensure the security of our network and customers, Comcast no longer supports the use of port 25 for sending email."
They provide recommended incoming mail server and outgoing mail server names.
Looking for advice how to configure pegasus to send and read emails once my more is completed. Advice?
Change User missing in 4.51??
Pardon me if I'm dense....
I just installed V4.51 (from 4.41), and I no longer see "Change User" in the drop-down menu under File. Did it move? Go away?
I use more than one email address, as different users, and I frequently switch among them. Do I have to exit now and restart Pegasus to change users? My computer is pretty fast, but that seems kind of awkward.
Help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Pegasus does not open PDF files
When I try to open the attachment it only says "Type Unknown" and I have to save it first to enable me to open it in ADOBE.
I do not have the same problem with Microsoft Word or JPEG files. This is a new problem.
In the raw view, the header looks like this:
--MGsmtp-part-20141118-163832-09a2e1ba-0001
Content-Type: application/pdf;
name="Acc_Afr_internet_2014.pdf"
Content-Disposition: attachment;
filename="Acc_Afr_internet_2014.pdf"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Thanks for any help.

Pegasus v4.70
4.70 sending endless copies of an email
After the November round of Microsoft patches, my Pegasus 4.70 on 64 bit Windows 7 has taken to occasionally sending a email endlessly until I manually remove it from the queued mail. I have tried reinstalling, but the problem has recurred. I am using Gmail SMPT as my outgoing server. Of course, the patches are not necessarily the problem. I've been running 4.7 for at least six months without problems and older versions for many years.
Suggestions, comments?
ERR Authentication Failed
First time installation using Pegasus 4.7 on windows 8.1 and I get "ERR authentication failed" (wrong user or password)
Currently I use Thunderbird and have no problem connecting to my email with the user / password I have
Perhaps I'm doing something else wrong?
Thanks

Permanently disabling of mail preview in preview mode
Hi,
The subject sounds senseless to disable the preview within preview mode, but let me explain ...
Using Pmail 4.63 with Windows 7 64bit in conection with Mercury. Works good so far.
Some of my users prefer the Preview Mode of the Folder Manager instead of the Windows Mode. The preview mode, where they have a folder tree at the left side and a list of mails at the right side is similar to their home clients like Outlook or Thunderbird and that's why they prefer this view. But in other programs it is possible to permanently deactivate the immediate preview when a mail is selected.
In Pmail we always deactivate the option "Preview" in menu "Folder". But after a restart the preview of mails is activated again. How could we permanently deactivate the preview?
Greetings
Joerg
Images lost in copy-to-self messages
I often paste images (screenshots) directly in between the lines of text when I compose an email. And I often need to refer back to those emails by reading my copy-to-self copies. But then the images are blank.
(From Pegasus 4.7 "The URL does not use a recognized protocol (12006)" appears where the images should be.)
What am I doing wrong?
Is there a better method I can use to put images in my email body AND still see it in my local copies?
It seems other email clients do not have this problem.
Local intranet links not parsed properly
Hi
We are using the latest version of Pegasus Mail. I have just discovered that when sending local mail via a mailing list using Mercury/32 intranet links are not followed.
What happens is that if I insert a hyperlink in a message that points to a page on our intranet, the home page will always be displayed instead of the page specified in the link. When I copied the link before inserting it in the message I opened a new tab in my browser (I.E.11), and pasted the link to test it. The correct page opened.
The link used points to a server on our local network (Atlas). The link is: http://atlas:26514/sites/ourintranet/SitePages/Home.aspx?RootFolder=%2Fsites%2Fourintranet%2FShared%20Documents%2FIT%20Support&FolderCTID=0x0120002FB9E7FB27D25346BBAF6D21C2DC0A26&View=%7BBF3F3C43%2D994D%2D401F%2DA20A%2D99CF49EF5F70%7D
Is there a setting in Pegasus Mail that I need to change?
Thanks.
configuring Pegasus for comcast ISP
Still having some difficulty configuring Pegasus for use with Comcast.net. To read incoming email, I use the server name "mail.comcast.net", port 995 (per comcast instruction) and "via direct SSl" for security. I can retrieve email from Comcast with no problem. Here is my setup to send email:
server host name: smtp.comcast.net, Port 465, security "via direct ssl".
Comcast doesn't support using port 25 to send email according to their instructions.
Every time I try to send an outgoing email Pegasus uses my old ISP (optonline.net). What am I doing wrong?
List Window Length
The List window on my PM is too small while the Preview window takes so much space. Is there any way to increase the legth of the List window and decrease the space of the Preview window?
Converting Pmail messages to EML?
Is there a way to convert Pegasus messages to EML files?
Need to import Pmail msg into Windows Live Mail. Any idea?
Preview Area Fonts
I try to set the fonts in the Preview area which are extremely small but it does not work. I click the Fonts icon and I get to the window where I can set the fonts for the List of Folders, List of Messages and Preview Area but no matter what size font I select the Preview Area stays the same but in the other areas it works fine.
Is there something special about the fonts in the Preview Area?
Any word on v4.71? aka "Don't send" button in spellcheck
Jerry Wise:
David Harris has already fixed the problem with the Don't Send button and the fix will be included in V4.71 in the near future.
The above message from thread http://community.pmail.com/forums/40439/ShowThread.aspx#40439 is dated 12th of March 2014. I figured I'd wait until 4.71 is released before upgrading from 4.63. Needless to say, I didn't think 'near future' would have been quite this long, but stranger things have happened.
So, is 4.71 still on the horizon, or 'round the corner, or is v5 going to be next, or...
